June 4th ATV Mountain Ride

As Bryan and decided to climb up to the Cuddy Mountain Look-out point, we ran into too much snow on the trail, despite temperatures being in the high 90's at our house.  Bryan powered through the first few snow spots but...we had to turn around and head back because the trail was too snow covered to pass.
The views were amazing and it was nice and cool on the mountain.  As we descended the mountain, we ran into another couple who were four-wheeling also and Melvin was very familiar with the trails.  He told us that he could get us into the Hornet Creek Reservoir if we'd like.  We agreed and followed them through some rough and steep trails (and around some other snow patches), but alas...we found our ideal picnic spot down by the beautiful reservoir (which sits at a little over 7,300 ft.)
This photo shows a secondary "lower Hornet Creek reservoir" which was not too full.
But there were still areas where there were 3-4feet snow banks.
Melvin told us that he caught some nice size rainbow trout in the reservoir.
Bryan loved this area and has decided to go up fishing and maybe even overnight camp sometime in the near future.
We both marveled at how crystal clear the water was and how pretty the views and ride was.
We are both definitely enjoying Idaho's playground...including these trails in the mountains that sit behind our house.  :-)
I'm sure we'll be riding again soon.
