McCall Winter Carnival 2014

Yesterday Bryan and I took the afternoon to drive up to McCall to enjoy the snow sculptures which are part of McCall's annual winter festival.  Last Saturday was the Mardi Gras Parade, and various events from live music, dance parties, dog sled pulling, snow tubing and McCall Starz on Ice show etc. which took place throughout the week.  The highlight is touring the elaborate snow sculptures which are places throughout the town.

Here are a few pictures for your enjoyment:

This sculpture won the Grand Prize.
It was titled "Pharoah's Tomb" and was super impressive!
You walked inside and saw carvings of hieroglyphics and mummies in the wall,
with a detailed lit up ice tomb in the center.
Here are some of those pictures.

And here are some of the other snow sculptures we viewed yesterday:

Some of these pictures OBVIOUSLY don't do the sculptures justice.  I was quite impressed at the talent of the local sculpture artists.  Some of these sculptures were really intricate.  And outside the one restaurant, they created an Ice Bar which was staffed and they were selling drinks from the ice bar.

In any case, we had a fun day.  It has been cloudy and foggy for close to two weeks now, and it was snowing yesterday in McCall as we toured the snow sculptures.  Thankfully, today the sun is shining and we can finally see the blue sky again.  Yeah!!!  I am off to the hot springs for a walk and soak.  (I find it enjoyable to walk in the hot pool as opposed to bundling up and walking outside on the snowy/ ice & muddy roads.

Here's the link to the town of McCall's website.  I really like visiting McCall.  If you choose to visit us, we'll visit McCall together.

Hope you're weathering the winter well.  Love, Cindy
